Mantrac was established in 1977 as the authorized Caterpillar dealer in Egypt. Since then, Mantrac invested in facilities, equipment and people, to become one of the world's leading suppliers of Caterpillar construction machinery, power systems and material handling equipment. Mantrac's ten-branch network (supported by a fleet of field service vehicles) provides superior customer services nationwide. Mantrac also handles Michelin's full range of tires. In 1997, Caterpillar chose the Mansour Group to distribute in six African countries, as well as Russia. Mantrac is enjoying a 40% market share in the Egyptian market.
 In April 1998, Mantrac made a major move, establishing its Business Systems Division (BSD) with the aim of using its powerful retail network to cover the Egyptian IT market. BSD is now a multi-brand / multi-products distributor for 3COM, IBM, HP, Microsoft, Compaq, Acer, Huawei, UPS Systems, and Fujitsu-Siemens. Mantrac is today a leading distributor of high-end technology in the Egyptian market.
Mantrac employs over 700 people; the majority are university graduates.
