Stemming from a firm conviction that businesses must give back to their communities, the
Mansour Group continues to invest in projects that make a difference in people’s lives. Here is a selection of those projects:
- The LEAD Foundation began as a concept spearheaded by the Mansour Group. It aims to provide opportunities for sustainable economic growth in Egypt by giving individuals the necessary skills and development tools to enrich themselves and the communities in which they live and work. Through building ties between the private sector and society's underprivileged, the LEAD Foundation is investing in Egypt's future.
The LEAD Foundation is an Egyptian NGO, originally supported by contributions from the Egyptian private sector, technical assistance from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), which is part of the World Bank Group, and contributions from the people of the United States of America, through USAID. The Foundation was founded under NGO law number 84/2002. The Board of Directors of the Foundation consists of some of the leading industrialists in Egypt and is chaired by Mohamed Mansour.
- The Future Foundation (FF) is another Egyptian organization dedicated to improving the lives of the country’s citizens. The Mansour Group is involved in a specific FF project to subsidize housing for low income urban communities.
- In response to the dire need of adequate healthcare in the low income district of Imbaba (Cairo), The Mansour Group provided a health clinic for the local residents.
- As means of assisting the noble efforts of the AFNCI (Association of Friends the National Cancer Institute) towards the goal of building a world-class international children's cancer hospital in Cairo, the Mansour Group is helping to funnel donations to this worthy cause. The support started January 2001, by donating 10 piasters out of every McDonald's meal that is sold in Egypt, and so far the donation reached 2.9 million Egyptian Pounds. And the support will continue until the completion of the hospital planned end of 2004.
- In response to human needs and to explore the unexplored field of education in Egypt, the Mansour Group is assisting ADVANCE; the only specialized learning center for Autistic children in Egypt; to build a village complex in Kattameya to accommodate boarding children and serve as a permanent haven. Today the school is located in Maadi serving 40 children and the plan is to construct the village by 2006 to accommodate a minimum number of 100 children and adults.
This will help children become independent, productive adults; enriching themselves and the community at the same time.
- Finally, as responsible corporate citizens, the Mansour group has proactively embarked on several beautification projects in greater Cairo for the public’s benefit. Among the best known are the Giza Tunnel renovation and the Zamalek public park.
- The Awladi Orphanage is a charitable organization that cares and caters to orphaned children by helping and supporting them to ensure they can lead a better life and become productive members of society. Awladi provides home and shelter to about 100 infants and toddlers in addition to over 300 boys & girls of all ages. In its continuing effort to expand its mission, Awladi is presently raising funds for the construction of new premises for boys over the age of 12.
The Mansour Group has taken the initiative to provide financial, vocational and recreational support, to help in raising the level and quality of the orphans' lives. In addition to sponsoring the children, the Group also is contributing in the project of building the new premises for the boys over the age of 12.
